What Parents Have Taught Me
I have learned many things from many people.
From my parents I learned who I was, and how to exist in this world.
From my teachers I gained knowledge that helped me develop as a person and gain the qualifications I needed to create a successful career
From the children I have worked with I learned how to be a better teacher.
From friends I learn how to enjoy life and have fun.
From the parents of the students I have worked with I have learned that:
Children have home lives and school lives and the two may be very different.
Parents will do anything to help their children have a good life.
Parenting is the hardest job in the world.
The bond between parent and child is the strongest bond there is.
Parents often know their child better than the teacher.
All parents have a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to give their child.
Families are centers of learning, and every family member creates learning opportunities for children.
Most of all I have learned that parents are as important in helping a child learn as any teacher, in fact, they may be even more important than teachers.
I want to thank all the parents who have helped me understand the important contribution they make to the education of children.
To all the wonderful parents I have yet to meet, I want to say that I am looking forward to learning more.
