‘Mom’s know’ – when children can do better.

Have you ever watched your child struggle to do schoolwork and wondered why he or she was not getting better results? Well, you are not alone. Many moms have asked for my help when they are worried about how their child is learning. Often they have no idea what the problem is or even if there is a problem. But I have learned to trust moms when they tell me they think their child is not learning well and may have a learning difficulty.

Teacher do their best to teach the children in their class but they often do not know when a child is not learning well. They have to keep tabs on all the children in their class, and unless a child makes a point of telling the teacher that he or she is having problems (and which child does that!) teachers may have no idea that your child is not achieving all that he or she is capable of achieving.

You see your child much more than your child’s teacher does and you are much more aware of how well your child is learning. If you suspect that your child is struggling to learn, that he or she has come across a learning hurdle of some kind, you need to let your child’s teacher know so that your child can get the help he or she needs.

Not sure that there really is a problem?

Think that it might only be a ‘phase’ your child is going through?

Don’t want to make a fuss?

Don’t want to single out your child unnecessarily?

Trust your instincts! Do not wait until a small learning difficulty becomes a major learning problem. Check out the information on this site and talk to your child’s teacher about your concerns. Your child will thank you.
